“Body Armor for
your skin”
What is It?
Amerigel® Barrier Lotion is a
dual dimethicone/silicone skin protectant
and moisture barrier for adult incontinence, skin folds,
peristomal sites
and other areas where the skin may be exposed or vulnerable
to moisture.
How does Amerigel® Barrier Lotion protect the skin?
Amerigel® Barrier Lotion protects
the skin from harmful elements with the use of silicone and
dimethicone. The silicone in Amerigel® Barrier Lotion stays
resident on the surface of the skin and will not penetrate
into
the sub-dermal layers. Similar to freshly applied wax on
a car, the protective silicone layer coats the skin and
prevents contact with excess moisture, foreign air-borne
particles and other skin irritants.
The dimethicone in Amerigel® Barrier Lotion moisturizes
and lubricates the skin without the greasy residue
found in petroleum-based products. This lubrication minimizes
potential shear damage in friction-prone areas,
reduces inflammation caused by irritants and assists the
silicone in preventing contact with excess moisture
causing skin breakdown.
Why should you switch to Amerigel® Barrier Lotion?
Effortless application and removal, along with the benefits
of Oakin™, make Amerigel® Barrier Lotion
one-of-a-kind. No other products on the market today
offer the antimicrobial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory
properties found in Oakin™. This natural extract
has been used for several hundred years to treat diverse
skin
conditions, including those caused by infection. The
combination of Oakin™, dimethicone and silicone
in Amerigel® Barrier Lotion protects, moisturizes and
prevents harmful bacteria from coming in contact with
the skin. This unique advantage, along with the use of
non-petroleum-based ingredients, makes Amerigel® Barrier Lotion easy to apply and remove, thereby saving
patients’ time and discomfort.
Where can you use Amerigel® Barrier Lotion?
All of the ingredients in Amerigel® Barrier Lotion are
safe and gentle enough to use from head-to-toe.
Some of the most common applications include:
- Eczema and psoriasis - helps soften and reduce plaque
deposits.
- Contact dermatitis - minimizes exacerbations
caused by latex allergy symptoms.
- Crutch users – minimizes
irritation and friction found in the axillary areas.
- Prosthetic
wearers – prevents irritations
to the stump from repetitive movement or rubbing.
- Adult incontinence – protects the skin without
adversely affecting the absorptive ability of the
adult brief.
- Contractures – protects the skin from damage
in moisture-prone areas, such as skin folds
and creases.
