Wound Dressing
A Hydrogel with an Aggressive Autolytic Debrider

What is It?
AmeriGel® Wound Dressing is the first and only FDA-approved, antimicrobial hydrogel indicated for stage I-IV pressure ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, diabetic skin ulcers, 1st and 2nd degree burns, post-surgical incisions with dehiscence, cuts and abrasions.

What’s in it?
AmeriGel® Wound Dressing is the only wound care product on the market today with Oakin™. Extracted from nature, Oakin™ provides the antimicrobial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory as well as the aggressive autolytic debriding properties. In a MIC test Oakin™ was shown to be bactericidal against 49 gram (+) and gram (–) microbes, including Staph., Strep., Pseudomonas, Candida and T. Mentagrophytes. Other ingredients include Zinc Acetate, well known for its antiseptic and skin protectant properties and Polyethylene Glycol (PEG), which helps to maintain a moist wound environment for extended periods of time. PEG is also unique because it is currently the only product on the market today that is known to neutralize phenol.

How does it work?
AmeriGel’s primary mechanisms of action are to decrease cell membrane permeability, proliferate proteins to the wound site and promote the development of granulation tissue growth. Subsequently, with the help of Oakin™, AmeriGel will combat infection, reduce wound bioburden and provide an antimicrobial barrier to prevent potential infections.
